Dr. Joel Parkyn.

Dr. Joel L. Parkyn is an Adjunct Professor of Theology and Scripture at Holy Apostles College and Seminary, CT. A former U.S. Marine infantry intelligence analyst and cartographer, he received a Ph.D in theology from Exeter University and specializes in the history and interface of science, theology, and religion to the modern period, particularly the space sciences and astrobiology; unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and the extraterrestrial hypothesis. He hold masters and undergraduate degrees in philosophy and theology from Providence College. He is author of Exotheology: Theological Explorations of Intelligent Extraterrestrial Life (Wipf & Stock, 2021) and contributing author to the anthology Value Beyond Earth, (Palgrave MacMillan, 2026). Research specializations include natural theology, epistemology, and phenomenology; his main research projects include extraterrestrial intelligence, Exotheology, Early Christianity, futurist studies, cosmology, space sciences and astrobiology, and their planetary and cosmic relationships/relation to theology, philosophy, world religions, and society. His next book, Cosmic Contact: The Exotheology of Extraterrestrial Encounters will be published in December 2026.
